Wealth is stealing our democracy. Those few who control most of the wealth in our country have found a way to steal our rights little by little until we are left with something that doesn't resemble the elements of democracy anymore. Restrictive voting rights, politicians, mostly Republicans, who are controlled by big money to represent them and not all of America are examples. The ongoing attempts of destroying of the social safety net that leaves those without jobs or savings vulnerable to outlaw and black market schemes as an only recourse are other examples. Laws that are being passed at the state level that increasingly punish the poor and out of work in order to fill prisons that are privatized in order to make profit continues the pattern. Capitalism being defended as the only method for commerce and arguments for regulating that capitalism being undermined by the wealthy in order to free up consolidating their monopolizing the markets as a control mechanism as yet another example. We are being subjectively lied to by many right wing outlets of our national media in hopes of quelling any recognition of the overthrow of our democratic principles. Now that the largest religious organization, the Catholic Church, has come out against unfettered capitalism and self-centered idolatry, the attacks on the Catholic Church from the right wing mouthpieces has begun. When we see the erosion of our rights, like wanting to represent our people as politicians become only a possibility that the wealthy can afford we know we are going to get policies that reflect the wealthy agenda and the common person will have little to no representation afforded. We can stop it still but the time is running short and unless we all protect and hold sacred our right to vote and actually vote, we will shortly lose it.
