Last night, inclusion won out over exclusion (#1377)

Here in America we had our presidential election that culminated yesterday. What can be discerned is that the party that went out of it's way to include many different groups won the day. The contrast was stark between the two parties and should now be a model for our country as we ever more diversify. A paradigm shift has been made and counting on just a few groups, as the base for claiming election success, has proven unsuccessful. We truly have become the melting pot that we have over the decades thought ourselves to be. Holding onto segregating ideals out of fear or advantage has shown itself to be unworthy and self defeating. What was proved last night is that without a careful consideration of all of our needs together, we cannot help ourselves govern with any authority. Integrating ideals won the day yesterday and for that I heave a delighted sigh of relief. We deserve more from our society than self inflicted hardships when we can better survey the landscape of society and see where pulling us all together includes shared progress and opportunity. We are not immune to selfishness, look how the other party promulgated measured equality from different starting points. Hardly fair or equal. However, when we build our society with the idea that all of us can and should share in it's prosperity, we elevate the consciousness of our citizens to a place where we all feel like we are important parts of our own future. There will always be graduated levels of participation because we all have different motivations, but to assign some of us to lesser because we don't fit nicely into a pre-ordained group is disrespectful and as last night proved a losing strategy.
