I don't know how we survived this long under the dark cloud of republican rule in all three branches of our government. But if we can somehow hold on until November 6, 2018 the nightmare that is trump and his acolytes will begin to brighten. Because on that day there will be a massive voter turnout unlike any mid term election in recent memory that will bring back to our Congress to a democratic vision. Not only will the House likely turn blue by a good margin but the Senate, which was a concerning prospect only a year ago, will find that the majority by probably a somewhat slimmer margin, will turn it's controls back to democrats. Controlling the House and the Senate will only give us democrats one of the branches of government but a mightily important one in our quest to control and deny the trump agenda.
The presidency will not be subject to change unless of course the Mueller investigation makes it so, so not until 2020 will we get a chance to flip the presidency back to where it should have been with democrats in charge. But until then the Congress is the focal point of 2018. What that does is give us dems the ability to manage the unbridled selection of far right wing judges being allowed to be seated in life time positions. It also gives us the opportunity to actually debate policies with trump that he otherwise would not have to do given his current majority in Congress. That fact alone gives us Americans the check against the far right which is leading the republican party.
But of consequence as well if not as much are the state house races where 48 states will elect officials to lead their states forward. Many are republican controlled as of now but with the disenchantment now permeating our nation with the trumps and their working middle poor class destroying agenda I expect the republicans to be on defense in protecting what leadership positions they have with little hope in many areas. So if things go as they are now projected our nation will begin to awaken from the trump nightmare with an actual agenda to not only stop trump but to reinstate some normalcy back to local and national governance. It cannot come soon enough as the trumps are trying mightily to destroy as much as they can before their limited time in power comes to a halt. We must keep our necks bowed to the task of reversing republican rule though in the meantime to limit the damage that will have to be reversed beginning in 2018.
