(#6328) If not for Ukraine trump would have given putin Alaska by now!

      When Ukraine fought back against what seemed like insurmountable odds they were not just trying to protect their own sovereignty they but as some luck would have it they ended up helping protect the US from trump. If an emboldened putin was to have secured Ukraine then the world would be different today. With the hold putin has on trump there is no doubt in my mind that trump would have ceded Alaska to putin as a bargaining chip to stay in putin's good graces. Let me be clear here, trump is no lover of our democracy. In fact trump is only in politics to secure treasure and stay out of prison.
     I also believe that Greenland would be under trump control as a this for that with putin. Two superpowers trading land masses without the consent of any one. Surely NATO would have been unprepared for a trump deception. It is only because Ukraine fought back and after 4 years is actually holding their own has NATO been able to readjust to any scenario trump will employ as a deceptive act. If Ukraine had folded at the beginning, the Russian enthusiasm for more territory would have gobbled up a few more Eastern European nations. In my mind the heroism of Ukraine is the lynchpin that has preserved democracy both here in the US and the world at large.
     As to Russia, they are neutralized now as to any dominance they might have attained. We here in the US are still far more vulnerable to trump although his power has been waned not by the supreme court so much but by lower courts who have held democratic principles higher than trump demands. We can see the frustration coming from trump as his plans to secure gaudy wealth has been curtailed although not stopped. His ambition to be a tyrant is still smoldering within him but he cannot understand how to make it happen given the few checks and balances we have that still operate under our national constitution. If not for Ukraine and their amazing sacrifice to democratic principles our reality today would be a living nightmare worse than a sleeping one!
