Instead of being a world leader in being a democratic society our society has been infiltrated by misinformation and from the greed of the wealthy. They view their good fortune as a privilege they can easily deny the rest of us. Instead of giving back to make life easier for all of us who are a part of their success they put up roadblocks to keep many of us from advancing. Too many have to stay in poverty because the wealthy cannot find their compassion. Not all the wealthy but way too many are not about being good stewards of democracy. Instead they are intent on increasing their own wealth while denouncing everyone else as lazy or radical.
They don't want to be known as philanthropists of good hearts, they want to be alone at the top of the wealthiest mountain. Where they can look down upon all who cannot be them. What happened to these folks that they are not allowing themselves to be a in the community of human beings? They shelter themselves in fortified spaces and only travel with small armies. They see everyone as an enemy probably because they treat everyone as an enemy. They think life is some game where only those with all the resources are allowed to be free. I don't know where they learned this but it does speak to their inability to be real human beings.
I am in my seventies now and have never felt the need to be wealthy or separated from humanity. I believe that the best of what a human being can become is the only path any of us should ever take. Where how we feel about what we do is inspirational not condescendingly apathetic. Where we move to better the world even in the little things we do each day instead of devising plans that harm the many for no other reason than we are immune to their suffering. The wealthy really do puzzle me. Who are they trying to impress and for what reason? As I go about my day with everyone I meet I am a positive force that by default gets smiles and hellos wherever I go. To me that is true wealth!
