(#6289) 250 years on July 4th

I am savoring the victory last night in Virginia. It was an affirmation by we democrats, independents, and even some republicans that fascism cannot be allowed to destroy our democracy. Nearly 81 years ago fascists were defeated in World War II. Not only defeated they were exposed at Nuremberg for all their destruction caused upon the human race in virtually every nation on Earth. Their monuments were destroyed and their not dead leaders were hunted down and prosecuted! Fascism is a genocidal persuasion aimed at experiencing narcissism and power! Never again should our planet endure the likes of those who murdered because of egomania!
Soon we here in the States will be celebrating the manifest destiny of our democracy. At the same time we have a leader here who sides with corruption and fascism. He has supporters who will not break from him even when they disobey their oath to our US of A Constitution. What are they celebrating when the day comes? It isn't democracy nor equality? Yet they will act like they are patriots akin to our revolutionary heroes. I personally am disgusted with too many of them and would submit them to not only civil but criminal adjudication if I could. They break the law given down by our legislators and judges as frequently as they do nothing much else!
I know this much. After the yes vote prevailed last night in Virginia, my soul is a little lighter today. The struggle for our democracy did not end last night but it took a stride forward to a hoped for victory. We won't have the election this year before the celebration of our 250th year as a democratic nation, but we have not lost our democracy to the republican forces that are relentless in their effort to do so! Those of us who fight to keep democracy will celebrate our nation's birthday and feel the pride of all those who did the same back to our revolutionary war times. The many of us who know the sacrifice that our foreparents endured to birth our nation will shield that inspiration with our own lives!
