One hundred and sixty three years ago President Lincoln uttered this paraphrase in his Gettysburg address. He understood that we the people are our government and nothing short of that was acceptable. So today when we see the likes of trump come into our executive branch with the sole mindset to eliminate we the people as the foundation of our government we know Lincoln's words are being dishonored. I greatly admire Lincoln for his life work in our government and proudly acknowledge his foresight and courage to do what is more perfect for our union. What we have today in trump is not an honor to Lincoln, instead it is contrary!
The melting pot that is America has been continuous but also difficult at times. Yet we have always eventually sided on the more noble traits of our instincts. What I have seen from trump and his republican sycophants is a backwardness of progress. Making voting harder for Americans, thus disenfranchising the one person one vote equality. Taking away from women their natural right over their own bodies, thus making them less equal to men. What trump is doing is demanding that we adhere to his whims instead of asking us what he should do as our representative. His approach is like he was ordained for life instead of elected to a fixed period of time.
We the people on the other hand need to understand our role in government. We are the power behind everything so our attention is required. We all have busy lives but what shapes those lives is our government. We all need to pay attention to the promise of our we the people nation and help direct it by electing representatives that help build our dreams into reality. Right now we don't have that but in little more than four months we will have another opportunity to correct the mistakes of the past by voting for our future and not some backward approach. For those of us who wish to think and learn the future has always been a hopeful promise. Because we are all evolving in our lives to a better life and going backwards does nothing to get us closer to that better life.
This blog will be an advocate for compassion, curiosity and human survival. When these elements of human nature are being denied, wholly, severally or individually, less than positive human traits are the outcome. It is my wish and hope that my reasonings on a variety of subjects will provide the readers of this blog with personal and public insights. My only motive is to provide a forum for advancing enlightenment. Carl Clark.
