So many are sympathetic to changing our world for the better but are not inclined to show it by advocating or protesting. But the ultimate way to show support is to vote. Voting really is simple compared to protesting, marching, and advocating. In theory we should be doing all we can to make sure there is no doubt as to our intentions. But if we don't vote the point of calling out the bad and working for the good becomes moot. What each and every one of us who is eligible to vote needs to do is get registered and then get your vote in early or vote on election day. Even if taking time off from work is needed to vote do it as it crucial to all of us.
There is no leeway on whether your vote matters. We are at a stage in America where the non voters are more than one third of our voting population. That is unacceptable now when our democracy is in peril of being wrenched from us by forces aligned with dictators and authoritarians. There can be no sitting out voting this time in November. Let me put it this way. If you think it is too bothersome or irrelevant to vote then you actually deserve to lose your democracy and the personal and collective freedoms they enshrine. You will have shown the world that your uncaring is as advertised and label you as an ignorant and/or a coward. Do not let yourself be identified as either if you know the difference between right and wrong!
Registering to vote and then casting a ballot early or on election day is so very easy to do. It takes about an hour at most when you make a plan and then follow through. What it brings you is the knowledge that you as a person were accountable to a most precious opportunity to be heard. A beaming pride that you know what is at stake and were up to the challenge. A hero as it were. No different than our foreparents who created and built our nation. Continuing on the tradition of protecting freedom and liberty is not only a duty but an inspiration to be held dear. If you are eligible and registered to vote then make sure you can tell your family and friends that you are part of our nation and have made it known!
This blog will be an advocate for compassion, curiosity and human survival. When these elements of human nature are being denied, wholly, severally or individually, less than positive human traits are the outcome. It is my wish and hope that my reasonings on a variety of subjects will provide the readers of this blog with personal and public insights. My only motive is to provide a forum for advancing enlightenment. Carl Clark.
