We need an Equal Rights Amendment enshrined into our national constitution (#3279)

Equal rights for all of our species. No exceptions whatsoever that we are all given the same opportunities all the way through to the same legal protections. There should not be a distinguishment between any gender, race, age or any other identifying marker for any human being. Equal rights are human rights and that should be memorialized into our national constitution through an amendment. Too often we see women being treated as lesser than men. Too often we see minority racial groups being discriminated against in every aspect of our society. To often we see the elderly treated as disposable when in actuality they are a treasure. We even see men treated badly by other men simply because of them living their lives in pursuit of happiness.
I know our constitution is under attack by the majority ruling political party so maybe right now is more impossible than not to demand the equal protection under the law we all deserve yet now is the time to mobilize for just such an amendment. We failed in the early 70's to get the 38 states to ratify the then attempt at equal rights but getting close shows just how much it was needed then and even more so needed now. We must never give up on our quest to make our democracy more perfect and if it is the brutal republican party that is energizing us at the moment to make a new start from this current republican rule then we need to bring along our vision in full strength so that when the change occurs in our political power structure our policies change with them.
Reversing the law that allows private money in our political campaigns and establishing public funding will help our democracy tremendously in that the quality ideas of our candidates will rule and not the size of their wallets. We need to make health care a single payer program like the rest of the civilized world has done and protect all of our citizens from the scourge of health problems that living in an evolving society perpetuates. There are great things to be done and first and foremost is the ousting of republicans beginning in every special election this year and on into the next many general elections. Then we can get about the business of improving our democracy for all of our citizens while building protections for us into our national constitution.
