Another chance to put our finger on the pulse of our coming democratic wave. Every step toward November 6th 2018 will give us tests to see how we are progressing in our battle with trump and his republican party enablers. This is just another in that process. The two elections in Wisconsin and the one is South Carolina will give us a good test from the states that majority voted for trump in 2016. The numbers are more a measure than who actually wins given that all the races since trump have shown margins democrats historically have been improving upon. However should democrats prevail where previously republicans held office then the idea of the blue wave will continuing to grow is real. If however not and republicans prevail then the blue wave may just be more hope and less fact. But if democrats close the margins on the total vote then the idea of the wave continues, but with some trepidation.
We will know by tonight, possibly early tomorrow which way the fortunes of democratic fortunes will fall. I suspect that we will see closer margins in these races but I am hesitant to say that we democrats will win outright where republicans previously held these offices. Even though I am hesitant, I am feeling more likely than not that democrats can pick up all 3 of these contested state seats. All of these seats up for election today were held by republicans. One died, one accepted a position in the trump administration and one resigned after being indicted on ethics charges stemming from taking money illegally for personal use. So we will see how this plays out but democrats have nothing directly to lose in these elections while republicans have all to lose.
Indirectly though we democrats have something to lose if we don't put up the continuing wave numbers we have seen throughout last year. It is vital that our base come out and vote regardless of the outcome perceived by those who project these contests. The sheer will of our fight against trump and his republican party demands it of us. As in Alabama where the unthinkable actually happened we democrats can win where others have said we could not so why not again and why not now! All we have to do is make sure we cast our ballots when the ballot casting time comes. That would be today so get out there and vote like your life depends on it because in the bigger picture, if not actually yours, someone's life actually does.
