A great meme has been passing around on facebook for several years and it typifies the major difference between republicans and democrats. It goes something like this; If something bad is happening and it doesn't affect republicans they don't care. However we democrats say that when something bad is happening and it affects anyone it is wrong and that is why we care. Do you get the distinction? The republican party is about what affects them and the hell with the rest of us. We democrats say that despite something bad not affecting us we still care to stop it because we care about all human beings, yes, even republicans.
So another analogy is like the coward who cares only for his own skin and does whatever he can to escape the danger no matter what happens to the rest of us. We democrats on the other hand are like the brave. We stick our necks out for others despite any danger it may prevail upon us individually or collectively, we stay and fight and not run away like the cowards. Because the only way to subdue and defeat danger is to stand up to it and fight back. We democrats get that. It is not like we are totally honorable in the sense of pure self sacrifice, because we know from history that when you allow one or more parts of our society to be demonized for no cause other than nefarious intent, then the rest of us could well be next. The slippery slope of not defending some of us will eventually lead to us defending none of us.
So we fight for equality and fairness through justice in our democracy. Our democracy is what holds us together and while republicans are part of our democracy they are also the ones tearing at the fabric of it. So a price by them must be paid when the stopping time comes. Their brutal and ignorant decisions are worthy of sobering penalty and so that history will learn the great lesson of what treason and selfishness can bring we must come down hard on their heads. We cannot abide the cycle of treachery that this last half century of republicans have embraced without the stark reminder of what treachery's price will be. They will learn that being selfish and cowardly are two traits anathema to a democratic nation of good character and unwavering honorable personality or they will live as banished from all civilized society within it.
