(#4581) The Pelosi effect

There is one thing that most impresses me about Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi from the 12th District of California is that she is adaptable. She can take whatever circumstances that comes her way and forge a path forward for all her democratic caucus in the House. She is masterful and is about to display that mastery again. The progressives on one extreme end of her caucus are somewhat fighting it out with the moderates on the other end of her caucus about how the infrastructure bills (2) are to be legislated in the House. In other words who goes first.
Well Nancy, being a wise woman who is worthy of any supreme court seat has come up with a Solomon like solution. No, not cut the baby in half, but more so move both bills at the same time. Now she is trying to rectify that idea with the House rules but knowing Nancy all these years of paying attention to her abilities to solve problems this sounds like another one of those. We will see but it does demonstrate her alacrity and creativeness in thinking outside the box for solutions. In running a simultaneous legislative process with both infrastructure bills she has effectively silenced the noise coming from both ends of her complicated political spectrum.
What this also means is that Nancy may well get some republican votes for the human infrastructure bill that otherwise would never have come. Now that part may be wishful thinking but those republicans who do want to vote for the hard infrastructure bill are going to have to do some soul searching as to whether they can and then enjoy the credit back home as a victory. If they do then they will also be saddled with the human infrastructure bill and what they see as a detriment to their reelection chances. Because as we all know with republicans, it isn't whether they do good by the working middle poor class of United States of America citizens, it is whether they only do good by the United States of America wealthy.
