(#4571) Back to work on the Senate bipartisan infrastructure bill this morning

After Thursday's disappointing day of little to no progress, and Friday's day off for a funeral, this morning will begin what is hoped for a cloture vote on the bill toward it's final passage. A lot of expectation today but we will see how it goes. Starting early this morning on C-span2 the drama will unfold. The Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, is pushing hard to get this bill passed on his side because he has other legislative items to address before the August recess is to begin for Senators. So a no holds barred process is coming today and I want to see it.
We will see how much effort moscow mitch will put into either trying to break this legislation or standing out of it's way. The republican party on whole does not want to do a deal on something where democrats get the lion share of the credit. In fact, republicans would rather no one get credit for anything happening. Their whole agenda is to stall out everything and then blame democrats for not being able to legislate. So today will be interesting to see if the cloture vote passes. I suspect that it will since there may be enough republican senators who see beyond moscow mitch and want to do something for their own legacies.
Sometime around 10:30 am eastern time/ 7:30 am pacific time the Senate should gavel back in and then start the process. I will hopefully be done with my morning chores by then and ready to sit back and just watch how it develops. Usually I like to get things done early so that some sporting event is ready for watching but this is even much more serious and important. No matter how it goes though Chuck Schumer has been on top of it and if republicans stall it out expect Chuck to move past them and begin the partisan infrastructure bill as a stand alone. Either way we democrats will be delivering for the American people and that is what is most needed at this time in space!
