(#5749) 7 days left

A week from today our nation will be spending the day casting ballots in all 50 states. Unfortunately we do not allow residents of our territories to vote in presidential elections. However, the residents in our 50 states who are citizens will have a final chance to have their voice heard through the process of voting. It will be nearly half our voting population on the 5th of November out to vote since nearly half will have already voted in early in person voting options per state and vote by mail options per state. It is dawning on me that it is finally come to this point where we are through with the campaigning that has been going on for nearly 2 years. In 7 days the vote will begin to be totaled and presented to us to show who will be our next political representatives.
For us to finally be near the end will be welcome. I don't think we need anymore time to try to figure out for whom to vote. All of us pretty much know who these candidates are and what their intent is for us and/or themselves. I don't have to tell you here which candidate stands for what as the opportunity for that telling is non stop. With 7 days to go that telling will increase exponentially as the candidates and parties try to get their closing arguments for the case to be elected. In this new era of falsehoods and misrepresentations it is always the voter who must wade through what is what. We have to spend some time delineating between fact and fiction and balance that with our level of trustworthiness.
One thing I think I know about all of this is that if we all take our duty to vote seriously then we will get this election outcome correct. If we don't take it seriously and don't bother to vote we may well get the least acceptable outcome. To me we the American electorate, when we engage in our own democracy and our duty to it we most always get it correct. We are not perfect but we at least strive to be as perfect as is possible. When we do make a mistake we learn from it and then move on to a better solution. I trust the American electorate to move us forward together, without a devaluation of our democratic ideals. In 7 days we will begin to know the outcome and from there stand proud because we did our duty to our foreparents who gave us this most outstanding democratic form of one person one vote government.
