The calm I feel right now in our national politics has got me on edge. The lame duck period between now and when the new congress is sworn in is often a time when the party that has been relieved of power of tries to push through a last minute harm to the incoming party and its constituents. There doesn't seem to be an appetite for going after our health care for now and that is good but what about our social security? Also what about the funding for the disastrous idea of building a wall on our southern border? There are many areas in which the outgoing republican majority in the House can still cause our nation much harm with the help of trump and his boot licking Senate.
This highlights once again the consequences of not voting. Because we will have to deal with whatever this outgoing Congress does to us and we are to blame for it. Now many of us fought against this 2016 Congress with all we had but in the end the non voters or the voters who could not distinguish between what was good for our nation and what wasn't changed the course for the rest of us. Since we are the ones who are being persecuted by this nefarious administration and its levers of governmental power we are also to blame for not doing enough to motivate and educate our disinterested electorate. But that is behind us now as we learned well our lesson about staying informed and determined to work hard to get our points across and our voters engaged.
So whatever comes out of this last gasp by the defeated republicans, we will have a new era soon enough to mitigate what we can over the next 2 years until we can retake the White House and Senate. We have a mission to accept and it didn't end on November 6th. Hardly, it actually began on November 6th as a springboard to our next success on November 3rd, 2020. The same momentum we established to stand up to the trumps and his boot lickers will be needed in furthering our mission's continuation toward 2020. As an FYI it doesn't end there either and the next midterm in 2022 will require us to kick the last of the accomplice republicans out of office and then and only then can we stop to measure and adjust our manifest destiny to reorder our society to a vision that reflects the will of the people and not the will of criminal politicians and their secretive foreign and domestic power mongering wealthy donors.
