The cowardice of the republican party (#4386)

When it comes to convicting a bully for instigating the killing of people it is insane that the republican party is about to bury their cowardly heads in the sand. What an atrocious political party that says they are for law and order yet not for themselves. Instead they are really all about greed and selfishness with not guts or spine to carry them along. The republican senators who will vote to acquit trump because they say he is out of office and not therefore convictable are showing that they do not care about law and order but also that they put the possible loss of their senate seats above the principles of democracy. Who wants people in position of power who are derelict in their duty?
Our democracy is at a crisis moment where the cowardice of the republican party is on display. Not in modern times has a political party been so devoid of courage and character. There are a few in the republican party who have stood up and called trump responsible for the fatal attack on our Capitol but they are far far from the many in the republican party. I keep hearing how republicans in office for the most part are honorable people but that is a lie that is being passed as the truth. There is no honor in being a coward when their cowardice has such an adverse effect on our democracy.
That Nathan Hale said he wished he had more than one life to give for his country is the gold standard whereas republicans are slinking to hide when they can do far more with far less repercussion. The shame the republican party is willing to wallow in is beyond the pale of understanding or forgiveness. They should all be branded with their cowardly behavior for the rest of their lives. I for one will never let them have a moment of peace if they follow through by acquitting trump of his deadly gambit. They become trump's accomplices and will forever be noted in history as such. How far our nation has fallen from the heady courageous days of our revolutionary forefathers/mothers.
