This will happen if we democrats, independents and thoughtful republicans don't turn out to vote on November 6th. Some republicans are now saying they want the retirement age to be raised to 72 years of age. The republican plan is to have another big round of tax cuts for the wealthy and pay for it with big cuts in our federal insurance plans for retirement and healthcare. It is amazing to me that we even have to discuss this when more than 99% of us are not wealthy. Yet it seems that those who vote for republicans don't care as much about how they will survive in a survival of the fittest economy and instead hold some social issue as their highest priority. I am confused by this and if I could I would explain to them that freedom requires that we allow each individual rights that do no harm.
But it seems that republican voters are bossy types and would make all of us like their point of view, destroying the ideal of freedom to determine one's own future and happiness. These voters don't actually deserve democracy since they are in the middle of trying to destroy it. But they are the minority and if we democracy loving citizens would just show up and vote the end of republicanism is assured. So for the next 45 days we need to fire up our base even more and let them know just how important each of their votes is. There is no time left in our society to shrug off our duty to help self govern ourselves. The republican party wants you to not vote since it increases their chances of maintaining control of our government and our lives.
Just remember this though, as we each get older in our struggling lives we need our social security and healthcare for when we get older because the aches and pains of working like we did in our earlier life is mostly unbearable. When our citizens get older and need to stop working in order to not kill themselves from the exertions then retirement is the answer. But to republicans there is no rest for the weary, old, infirmed and incapable. They see us who are not wealthy as extra baggage that can be tossed out with the garbage. They are the survival of the fittest types who would not extend a helping hand but would rather throw a boot down on the neck of those who are vulnerable. Vote this November 6th and let's bring back a healthy vibrant society based on democratic ideals and not the current brutish rule with cruelty at its core.
