Last minute reprieve (#3529)

A rare moment of conscience in a republican politician has stopped an insane rush to approve a much maligned sexual predator from getting a lifetime appointment on our most prestigious court. It is amazing to me that there weren't other republicans who would stop that out of control freight train of a nomination but we will take what we got from one republican who was made to "feel" long enough to demand an investigation of what looks like a serial sexual abuser. That trump was forced to go along with this one, then two republicans is also telling. The heat was white hot on this nominee and anymore defending of him was beyond even the cruel and brutish trump's imagining.
In the 7 short days the FBI will have to investigate all the obvious illegalities this nominee is now alleged to have committed, is a tough ask. Yet the FBI has been much maligned by trump and this is their chance to prove to the world that they are not without extraordinary capabilities. With the obviousness of the charges and witnesses to explore, no doubt the FBI will have a fruitful time putting together a synopsis of just how far this nominee has fallen. I have no doubt as well that the conclusion to the FBI investigation will show many chargeable offenses for which to compel felony charges.
This nominee is done in my mind and if he could ever get past his own ego he would see the writing on the wall and withdraw from this now unattainable position. But as is the case with many narcissistic personality types who have had nothing but privilege and advantage most all his life he appears to be willing to put his family through hell in the waning hope that he can overcome all his illegal behavior much like with trump. But trump was appointed from an election with no FBI investigation, unlike in this case. So one republican out of a majority of republicans in the senate had the decency, even if for just a moment to do the right thing and change the narrative of his retirement and the course of our nation's history.
