What is it to be a human being? I suppose there are many different versions of answers for this question. But it really is simple for me. You have compassion and curiosity as your purpose in life. Everything else is just unimportant. So having compassion and curiosity as the drivers of my destiny I am well aware of what I need to do to keep them real. I fight to keep my identity above the allures and demands of things less important. I do not succumb to pressures from others who want less from life than their own true identity. They are the ones missing out on the strength and conviction of happiness.
Back to the observation of why too many fail at being human. There seems to be a malignant capture involved in our society that nullifies our individual uniqueness. Our society is built upon systems that adhere to institutional norms. These institutional norms fold us into them with vague security and safety promises. So many of us are obligated to these securities and safeties to the point of illogical serfdom. We protect our positions within our institutions to the point of absurdity. Instead of being unique we squander our individual selves to accept the lesser of what it is to be human. We weakly accept our very lives as being in danger so we don't want to risk the possibility of dying.
I mention compassion and curiosity as what it is to be human but there is another paradigm that is both inside and outside these two parameters. That being survival. We want to survive at any cost. Yet for a lot of us survival on our knees is not survival when we can imagine eliminating the threat. This is where we are at this point in our human existence. We either fear for our lives in a non stop destiny to destruction or we stop fearing and take courage in our strengths. I wonder and I care. Those are my strengths and when added to my ability to think outside the box I find that I am a threat to those who would try to capture me with their allures or demands.
This blog will be an advocate for compassion, curiosity and human survival. When these elements of human nature are being denied, wholly, severally or individually, less than positive human traits are the outcome. It is my wish and hope that my reasonings on a variety of subjects will provide the readers of this blog with personal and public insights. My only motive is to provide a forum for advancing enlightenment. Carl Clark.
