(#6415) 70 days until the election...

Within the next 8 or 9 days we should know the ruling from the supreme court on the unconstitutional trump executive order that the republican majority on the supreme court seems reluctant to oppose. I don't know how else to describe this situation other than by saying that trump and the republican majority on the supreme court are more in lockstep, than the republican majority on the supreme court should be with our constitution. If the supreme court republican majority has it's way and votes to keep the trump executive order on mail in voting as law then we the people will have to do our best to vote outside the mail in voting option.
I know I feel confident that the supreme court republican majority will not allow the trump executive order to stand. Yet my confidence is from logic, not willful nefarious strategy. The republican party with trump at the head of it is one where the good of our society is not the highest priority. Only the machinations of trump and his desire to stay in power at all costs is the imperative. As such, the trump underlings like the 6 republican majority of the supreme court may well disregard not only precedent but constitutional law to bring about an obstruction to voting unprecedented in a democratic society. Not only unprecedented, but obviously nefariously manipulative!
Many of us would rather be focusing our attentions on domestic remedies to the trump chaotic handling of our economy and the help that Ukraine needs to fend off the Russian horde! But no, we are stuck in a twilight zone atmosphere of almost disbelief at the sheer audacity of trump to thwart our election process by getting our highest court to side with his blatantly unconstitutional attempts to disrupt our midterm voting. We the American people have been in our own metaphorical war here at home with the destruction trump is trying to do to our democracy. It is past time for us to curtail him like we should as he disintegrates the pillars of our democracy!
