(#6419) 66 days until the election...

      North Carolina will send out it's overseas ballots on September 4th. That is 5 days from today. The insanity of republicans to change our voting system just before the actual beginning of voting has reached a fever pitch. We know it to be the case that they know they are going to lose big in the midterms so instead of offering policies that attract voters their strategy is to cut down voting to eligible voters. There is no polite way to say they are being brutish when a political party is trying to subvert the one person one vote paradigm. The republicans figure that by eliminating mail in voting they will survive the total vote count come election day. they have made the calculation that mail in voting is far more a democratic party aligned process than not.
     I am not sure but they have better data to justify their diabolical plot than I. Suffice it to say though both parties will be harmed if the not supreme court upholds trump's unconstitutional power grab. Denying anyone eligible, either democrat, republican, or independent the right to vote is akin to treason. Yet that is the plan for this republican not supreme court majority to decide. The not supreme court doesn't have the appeal yet as it is still with the 1st circuit court of appeals. Yet we expect a decision from them any day now. Still the undue burden that the trumps want to make the states shoulder is enormously difficult. Should the not supreme court side with trump then the whole midterm election will be a mad scramble that may well cause enormous logistical and constitutional harm.
     Upending an election right before it is about to begin is in violation of a rule the not supreme court invented in President Barack Obama's 2nd term and was only used specifically against President Biden. The major questions doctrine. Where making changes too sweeping, or too aggressive is prohibited. This rule change under trump into the domain of states is not only barred by constitutional law but now as well by a doctrine the republican majority on the court used only against a democratic president. Will the court show it's prejudice to objectivity or will they not only uphold the constitution but also uphold their own rule against creating chaos where it doesn't need to exist?
