7 hours left of trump (#4372)

I am up early this morning because it is a sweet day for me and all my friends. The 81 million of us who voted for Joe and Kamala were ready and excited for this day to come around on the calendar. When the end of trump was just as much a thrill as the beginning of Biden. Just after midnight I awoke as I usually do and then it hit me that the hours left for trump were few and the pomp and circumstance of the Biden inauguration, albeit reserved due to Covid-19 protocols, is about to begin. If any day this year can be called a must be attuned to, this is that one day.
The pardons aside, which of course are all about trump and his desperations, the focus is clearly on the swearing in and the first acts on executive orders of our new president to be. Knowing also that trump will not have the national stage to spew his hatred and treasonous vitriol is a salve for all of us who have always believed the old adage that we Americans are the true melting pot of the world. No matter what republicans think or say about us being a white nationalist nation, their calculus is based upon desperation and not on the facts of our actual citizenry makeup.
There are 7 hours left of the worst decision a minority of Americans made in 2016, as trump lost the popular vote by 2.9 million votes, yet claimed the electoral college presidential appointment so today we get to officially rectify that abhorrent outcome. The electoral college must go as less than 45,000 votes in 3 states, had they gone for trump in 2020, Arizona, Georgia, and Wisconsin in a specific way, would have given trump the electoral college victory by a margin of 271-269. Even though nationally Joe had 7 million more votes. Nothing speaks paternalism like the role that the electoral college plays in our politics. It is time for it to be dismantled and allow for our citizenry, in our democratic society, a true voice in how we are governed.
