141 days until the election (#4153)

This morning was a banner day for individuals who were fired from their jobs based solely on their sexual orientation. The Supreme Court voted 6-3 to uphold the section of the Civil Rights Act that covered this right. Which to me is somewhat of a surprise because the far right majority court has had a habit of denying rights that should otherwise seem obvious. This now gives me some hope that the voting rights cases that will be before this court will be adjudicated with a little bit more objectivity and deference to our constitution and not the subjective narrative of the republican party to maintain obstructing voting practices.
That is another issue but for now the right of all who are orientated toward the pursuit of their happiness in their gender identity and the love they feel for whomever is protected in the workplace from firing solely based upon that identity and love. That it even had to be adjudicated shows how dysfunctional our society has become but that it was adjudicated correctly is now a hope that our worst is behind us. Each of us has a right to be who we are and love who we love. Life is not some cookie cutter image that some would have us tied to. The days of confining our characteristics and behaviors to social orders that have nothing to do with freedom or liberty should be over.
As the trump debacle is slowing winding down with a tsunami like opposition to him this decision is just another clue that our blue wave is rising and the outcome of this election in November will be absolute. Not only will trump be defeated but a vast array of sitting republican senators will lose as well. We are formidable we opposition to trump and are not in any mood to temper our anger against him and his republican acolytes when the voting time comes. It is early this morning still so maybe some more good news will happen today. I know tomorrow is another milestone day that I am looking forward to writing about based upon the time left until we are back to a more caring and intelligent America.
