(#4639) Within the rules

The game last night between the Dodgers and Giants showed us how our democracy works. First of all it was played within the rules even when the rules are subjective. A winner and a loser was determined without chaos ensuing. Unlike our current political situation where republicans were handily defeated and as of yet the ringleader of the republican party refuses to concede. Instead of accepting that the rules are how we are guided to conclusions the republican party is instead intent on overturning the rules and playing by their rules only. The sport that was played out is important but nowhere near as important as our democracy.
The passions on both sides are the same but at least in sport we move on to the next event. If our season is over then the disappointment eventually fades into optimism for the next season. It used to be this way in our politics but not anymore. With republicans claiming that they were robbed and then not being able to produce any facts that prove robbery they still claim to be robbed. In fact they attempted an insurrection on our national capitol building while our nationally elected representatives were in the building certifying the results of the just concluded 2020 election results. The republican insurrectionists failed to overturn our election while causing the deaths of those who would not let them.
Sporting events are satisfactory entertainment events that fuel our passions and allow us to unite when both sides play exceptionally like last night. However there is no uniting after what republicans tried and are still trying to pull against our democracy. Every republican voter should be outraged at the behavior and strategy of the national and state republican parties that are not playing by the rules and instead are trying to circumvent the intent of our national constitution. It is a shameful and deadly attempt they are trying and the result is not going to be a hearty well played applause. Instead it is going to be the end of our democracy if republicans succeed at overthrowing our government.
