(#4662) manchinema must carve out of the filibuster for voting rights proetections

      It is coming to me that manchin and sinema would rather drag out the human infrastructure debate in order to not have to deal with the filibuster and it's necessary reform. I cannot tell you what is behind their implacable stance of defending the filibuster though. Some have said that they are trying to protect democratic policies from when the republicans take over but their logic hinges on the republicans not blowing up the filibuster if they take power. That is a fool's belief. The thief mcconnnell will do anything to get his way and his acolytes in the republican party will follow along like the lemmings they are.
     So that reasoning is flawed. What other reason could it be? The donors that don't want voting rights protections advanced? Seems a bit far fetched for manchinema to be bribed like that when they could just as easily find different donors who want the filibuster carve out to support them. So that seems unlikely as well. So what is it that has manchinema so tied to doing nothing with the filibuster when the filibuster carve out is the only way forward other than abolishing the filibuster altogether? A mind greater than mine needs to answer that question correctly because my mind cannot. Every time I try to imagine a scenario where it makes sense for manchinema to protect the filibuster I keep coming up with nothing.
     So the only other possible answer must lie in the minds of each of these individuals I call manchinema. Their egos must play some role in their reasoning because that is the only other possibility that has some sense to it. They cannot have the filibuster change because they would lose status with their republican colleagues. Which if you think about it after watching them on the senate floor day after day cajoling and enjoying conversations mostly with republicans, makes some sense. It is as if the republicans in the senate are the cool kids in the senate to them and manchinema want to hang out with them. But first the manchinema must be initiated and do what the republicans require of them to be acceptable. Keeping the filibuster in tact is the request by republicans and the manchinema is doing their bidding.
