(#4667) The closer we get to normal the further from our minds were the trump years

This is what I have been waiting for since the President Biden election, a return to normal. However, trump being trump is blocking the path forward at every opportunity. So it is taking us longer to get to normal and that is trump's strategy. Keep us in these abnormal trump induced times and then propagandize it as Biden's fault. This way trump gets another attempt at ruining our nation even more. There is no doubt in my mind that trump will try to run for president in 2024, unless of course he is convicted and sentenced to prison. But if he can avoid that to the runup of the 2024 election he will see himself as cleared of all charges if he is elected or appointed again.
Which is why it is so important that the civil and criminal charges against him move forward swiftly so as not to run out of time before the 2024 election. Already the house January 6th commission is in jeopardy of being halted if the republicans retake the house next November 8, 2022. To stave off this from happening the voting rights protection bills must pass Congress. So that gerrymandering and voter suppression laws are not allowed in the states. When we have free and fair elections we majority minded democrats and independents are more prone to voice the direction of our nation through voting.
Getting federal voting rights protections enacted will also allow us the opportunity to move beyond trump and his coldly calculated attempts to dismantle our democracy. We will see what happens in the next month or two as to whether we democrats, all of us in the senate, can make our democracy stronger and not weaker through inaction. President Biden has already said that inaction on voting rights protections is not to be allowed. So beginning with him and then down to the manchinema, the process must go forward with at least a carve out of the filibuster. We are so close to normal but we have to push through to get past the obstacles that keep us from getting back to normal.
