Pennsylvania's 18th congressional district (#3325)

The special election this coming Tuesday will affirm what we already know, that a blue wave is still rising. Now trump carried this district by 20 points in the 2016 general election and right now his preferred candidate is only leading by 3 points but within the margin of error so really it is a statistical tie. That in itself is enough to expect that the blue wave will still be rising regardless of the final outcome on Tuesday. Another factor here is that this district will no longer be as it currently is when the new congressional map is affirmed for the general midterm in November. So if the democrat falls short in his quest to wrest this safe republican seat from the republican, it will only be temporary and still be a victory for those of us who are seeing the tide rise on democratic fortunes while the depth of despair for republicans continues on it's crashing course.
The republicans have outspent the democrats in this race about 11 to 1 money wise yet this safe republican seat is on the verge of turning blue. The anger at republicans for all their despicable policies and hurtful agenda aimed at the working middle poor class is coming on full steam. With 5 days to go in a district that is decidedly republican there are enough independent votes left to be swayed to turn this race on it's head for a democratic upset. The bigger picture though is the one we should never lose sight of and that is the change in mindset by those who were moderate republicans that are now suddenly aware that the republican party does not represent them or the American ideal of democracy for all.
If the improbable happens and we democrats take this seat in Pennsylvania, a crushing blow will be inflicted on the psyche of every republican who is up for election in what they had considered safe districts and states. The last push to get our democrat elected in Pennsylvania is what we need most now not just so that we can change the seat from red to blue but to send an unmistakable message to republicans everywhere that they are about to be swept away by a rising blue tide that will take no prisoners. It is my hope that although this seat will be short lived as it again will be rearranged and voted on again in November it will serve as the warning shot heard round our nation that we are coming for republicans and no mercy will be given!
