(#5571) I love democracy!

      I cannot express into words just how happy and excited I feel about the Ukrainians finally receiving the US aid that was promised them last year. It has been 10 days since President Biden signed the Congressional legislation into law and although many months late due to republican obstruction, it is being delivered. My happiness is not for the fact of military aid in itself; it is for the right of Ukrainians to defend their choice to remain a democracy. The Russian dictator/tyrant putin would take Ukraine and add it to the Russian oppression that now exists in the current Russian federation.
     Russia would like more than Ukraine and if democracy loving patriots around the world do not help Ukrainians stop putin he will not stop with taking Ukraine. So we are at a fork in the road moment of what will be. Either Russia pushes forward and reignites war all over the European continent or we stop him and push him back into Russia with Ukraine as the barrier to further Russian aggression. For me it has always been about doing what is right and good in the world and nothing about tyranny nor dictatorships cries out right and good. As to making a choice, it really has never been a choice to make for me, it is only a duty to democracy that I will always honor.
     Every human being ever born has the right to exist as we are. None of us should ever be less than equal in opportunity nor respect. Only democracy allows that option. No other form of government has at its core the full embodiment of rights for individuals to consolidate as a group. We in democracy are the government and when we elect those to represent us we create our own societies into our image. We are not beholden to the strongman/woman perspective of power, control, and ego, we instead are the arbiters of our own fate. Only democracy allows all of us the right to pursue our own happiness within the boundaries that we decide is fair and just. We are the leaders, all of us, of our fates through democracy and that is how it should be!
